WaveZone Skimboards is the largest manufacturer of custom skimboards made in the U.S. They are known for designing custom painted, high-quality skimboards for skimmers worldwide.

When WaveZone found Symphony, they needed a modern and mobile-friendly eCommerce website in order to win business from digital-friendly customers. Another high priority was the enhancement of the user education experience — to decrease the number of calls coming through to the customer service team. We were up for the challenge.

To utilize their current logo to design and develop print collateral, photography and the eCommerce website solution needed to make a big splash at the 2016 Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida.


To attract a more digital-friendly consumer, we modernized WaveZone’s brand standards with new color palettes and imagery. This new look and feel was carried forward in new print collateral and the website.


Today, WaveZone’s customers can easily shop for skimboards and accessories, no matter what device they use. Better still, the updated brand and print collateral proved to be a huge hit at the surf expo.

With more than 150 skimboards and accessories at multiple locations, the Symphony photography team had their work cut out for them. By shooting the skimboards on two locations, they were able to capture the subtle differences between each board while keeping the colors and textures true to life.

Being built on a WordPress platform, the launched site has provided a foundation on which I can continue to build. The plug-in options are extensive and I can choose what to add to the functionality of my site as I continue to grow and streamline the customer experience.

Symphony built the framework and consulted extensively with me on content. When the site launched I found myself in alien territory, yet with an orientation by my project coordinator, I’m easily able to add new products and content and edit without a tech support call for the small stuff.

Many cautioned me that a change of this nature would have a negative impact on my search engine rankings. My site had been climbing for many years and placement was strong, but the inner workings of SEO seem to be in constant motion. I could see the benefits of a change by the rankings were a dice roll. After launch, Symphony quickly and efficiently reviewed my previous site links and trending searches, redirecting things as needed and added a plugin to my site that allowed me to optimize each product description.
